World War 2 (WW2) / Second World War was a global war that lasted from 1939-1945.
It was fought in the air, on sea, and across continents from Europe to the Far East.
This presentation focuses on telling the story of the war in the Far East for learners Third Level and above.
Between December 1941 and August 1945, Britain, its Commonwealth nations and their allies fought a bitter war against Imperial Japan throughout the Far East and in the Pacific Ocean. The fighting took place in the air, at sea and in malaria-ridden jungles, in drenching monsoon rains and on remote islands but always in searing topical heat and against a tenacious and brutal enemy.
The Japanese were a ferocious and seemingly unstoppable foe: their army and navy were well-organised, disciplined, fanatical highly-trained and merciless.
